Our well equipped workshop always proves a popular activity for most of the members, so much so that we’re extending our opening times. You can get involved with one of the many projects underway, building items such as picnic benches or Children’s play equipment or if you wanted to, learn how to use the wood turning lathe and make a bowl!
We also continue working closely with other groups such as Prosper Meath and entertain weekly visits from them for a cup of tea and a chat. We also hosted them in our workshop last year to produce some lovely mosaic panels for their own new premisses in Trim.
The workshop gets a fairly constant flow of requests to make child friendly play equipment and bespoke school work stations, as well as items such as garden planters for the community.
We’ve made memorial benches on request from individuals and ‘Buddy Benches’ for local schools.
Come and see us at local shows and craft fairs where you can see and buy our hand made items.
All this keeps us busy and helps generate some club funds to keep us solvent.
It’s not all work though ….
We have a social room and kitchen facilities where tea, coffee and biscuits are in ample supply. Sometimes we also have a bacon roll or cooked breakfast or sometimes a hot lunch.
We tend to kick off our meetings with tea and a chat, keeping everyone in the loop with what is going on. Before we let you loose in the workshop we ask you to sit and read our safety in the Workshop notes and sign our workshop users register.
And it’s not all about the Workshop!
We do lots of things beside making sawdust and noise!
We get out and about with specialist interest groups like the Walking Group or Camera Club, withe the odd venture out into the dark to go 10 Pin Bowling of an evening! There are smaller groups who go off together to the Opera or to see a play. Why not team up with other members for a round of golf?
You don’t just have to turn up and take what’s on offer, bring your own ideas and interests / hobbies with you, that’s how many of these special interest groups get started. So whether you want to learn how to play Poker (just for fun) or teach he rest of us something you can do, come along and join in, it beats sitting at home in front of the TV.
